KWC AVA COOLFIX: The smart, simple way to save water and energy

The new KWC AVA single-lever basin faucet with COOLFIX technology offers an ingeniously simple way to save energy without sacrificing comfort or convenience. The standard setting of the operating lever of a single-lever faucet is straight ahead; that is, in the “six o’clock” position. With most such faucets, lifting the lever brings a mix of hot and cold water, even if the user neither needs nor wants warm water. If the consumer prefers only cold water, he or she must rotate the handle to the far right, potentially wasting water and energy in the form of heated water going down the drain, unused. With KWC’s award-winning COOLFIX technology, the six o’clock middle position has been designed “full cold,” so that no hot water is delivered in this setting. This, in turn, saves energy each time the faucet is activated. The only way to draw warm water — and use energy — is to rotate the lever clockwise and away from the middle position (photo right), which is where most consumers — for aesthetic reasons — prefer to keep the lever when the faucet is not running.

NEW GOOSENECK FAUCETS FROM SLOAN FEATURE ABOVE-DECK ELECTRONICS

The new EAF-700-ISSM/EAF-750-ISM faucet models feature ease of installation and reliability, along with all the benefits of having the sensor electronics located in the faucet spout for simpler, above-deck maintenance. The faucets have been listed by IAPMO® to ANSI A112.18.1. The faucets, which come with a 1.5 gpm/5.7 Lpm laminar stream pressure-compensating insert for healthcare applications, offer greater water savings than typical 2.2 gpm models. Installers can run up to six EAF faucets on a single voltage adapter. For more information on the faucets, contact Sloan at 10500 Seymour Avenue, Franklin Park, IL 60131. New Wafer Check Valve Meets Critical Demands of Water Applications

Asahi/America, Inc. introduces 10” and 12” PVC wafer check valves. The wafer check valve conforms to ISO 5752 face-to-face dimensions and is easily installed by slip-fitting the valve between two mating flanges. The lack of a bolt pattern allows one valve style to accommodate ANSI/DIN/JIS mating flange dimensions. The unique design of the disc and stopper permits the disc to fully open when upstream flow is present, without interfering with schedule piping and mating flanges. In vertical applications, minimal back pressure provides a positive shutoff tight seal. In horizontal applications, an E-CTFE-coated stainless steel spring pulls the disc back to the closed position, with minimal back pressure required to fully shut off. A high Cv value ensures that user flow rates will be achieved. Asahi’s wafer check valve is available in PVC, 10” and 12”, with EPDM seals and no spring, standard. Both 10” and 12” wafer check valves operate at a maximum pressure of 90 psi and up to 120o F. Optional seals in FKM and an E-CTFE-coated stainless steel spring round out the offering.
